Day 1 Sunday – Wave Rock to Fitzgerald NP

Our adventure begins as we travel east out of Perth over the Darling Ranges. We take a break after an hour at the historic township of York. This was to be the capital of Western Australia until it was decided to move to the present site of Perth. We continue our journey through the undulating wheat belt. Our lunch stop will be at Wave Rock, where there is the opportunity to have a look at this amazing rock formation. After our lunch we drive further south to our camp near the coast of the Fitzgerald River National Park, an internationally recognised world biosphere reserve with plenty of beautiful beaches and rugged coastline. Tonight we swag camp. There are only limited toilet facilities. (LD) No recharging available or reception.

Day 2 Monday – Fitzgerald River National Park to Esperance

After a morning drive along the coast we arrive into Esperance with time to have a look around. The town is still remote but once you see the magnificent surrounds of the granite, bush and beach you can only wonder for how much longer this area can keep its quaint charm. Get set for some of Australia’s most beautiful scenery. This area of Western Australia has no less than 9 National Parks, which is testament to its beauty and uniqueness. We take in the most spectacular of all, Cape Le Grand National Park. Stunning blue seas mix with powder white beaches and secluded bays allow for stops and swims in what can only be described as a nature lover’s paradise. A short drive brings us to the Cape Le Grand National Park where we set up camp only meters from a picture postcard beach. The afternoon is free to explore this stunning coastal park with its white sandy beaches and crystal clear water. A late afternoon hike up the granite formation known as “Frenchman Peak”, rewards you with stunning views of the bay and islands of the Recherche Archipelago. Tonight we swag camp at Cape Le Grand National Park. There are solar heated showers and toilet facilities. (BLD) Phone recharging and reception not possible. No Electricity. Please note that tomorrow you will be swapping buses and joining the other group coming from Adelaide.

Day 3 Tuesday – Stirling Ranges

Today we head to the Stirling Ranges to explore the Central South/West of Western Australia. Leaving the aptly named Lucky Bay behind, you’ll be pleased to know that you haven’t used up all your luck, this part of WA has variety of different eco systems and each has something special to offer. We leave the day flexible, as to which park we will visit, depending on the time of year and weather. We might seek out an abundance of wildflowers in the spring. Everywhere has its greatness at some point in the year and that is where we will take you whatever time you choose to travel. Tonight we swag camp in a private camping ground in the Stirling Ranges. There are toilets and shower facilities. (BLD)

Day 4 Wednesday – SW of Western Australia

See the Western Australia’s version of the Great Ocean Road by seeing how the waves have an artistry all of their own when it comes to sculpture of the coast. Nature has down its amazing best on the coastline nearby Albany sculpting the granite into incredible formations that will have you reaching for your camera time and again. The Natural Bridge and The Gap are just two of the highlights. Towering old growth forests once dominated the landscape of the South West and we get high in the treetops to explore this beautiful eco system. The tingle forests once dominated this area. Their ability to grow hugely tall and amazingly straight made them targets for the emerging timber industry. Thankfully many areas are now protected after a long and bitter struggle between conservation and economic factors and you get to experience the majesty of the forest in the Valley of the Giants. We take a tree top walk through the canopy of these huge trees almost 60m up in the air. Tonight we swag camp. There are toilet facilities. (BLD) No electricity or phone reception

Day 5 Thursday – Margaret River region

Climb a 50 metre firelook out tree. Have a small taste of what you could experience in the Margaret River area if only we had more time. Wine, cheese, chocolate and a boutique beer tasting experience. So up early to have time to get all these experiences in. Tonight we swag camp Cane Break camp ground. There are toilet facilities. (BLD) No electricity

    Day 6 Friday – Perth

We finish our trip by heading up the Western coast via Yallingup in the Margaret River region. Wine and caves are the other big attractions and we visit Ngilgi caves, one of the big show caves of the region to get the low-down on the underground world. See the crystalline features of the stalagmites and stalactites up close and personal. We then get some insight from real experts on the country, the local Aboriginal people. This is a great opportunity to find out about the changes that have happened in the local environment and get a totally different perspective on the culture of the South West. Although there are no formal activities planned it is usual for the group to get together and reflect on the big journey together over a few drinks and meal. (BL) Your pre-booked accommodation. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner = (B,L,D)
