Description

DAY 1 – Perth to Albany

Begin your  overnight Albany & Tree Top Walk getaway at 7:00am, driving south in an air-conditioned comfort, stopping along the way for morning tea.   Travelling deep into the Southern Forests we visit the Diamond Tree; a giant Karri tree with a wooden viewing platform 52 metres above the forest floor.  This was used as a fire lookout from 1941 to 1973 making it the oldest wooden fire in the world and is still used to support aerial fire surveillance.   We allow ample time for the adventurous to climb this giant for stunning views of the surrounding Karri Forest.

Travelling further south we arrive at the Valley of the Giants to experience the world famous Tree Top Walk.  This boardwalk is located 40 metres above the forest floor and provides magnificent views of the Karri & Tingle trees.   Back on solid ground we stroll through the “Ancient Empire” experiencing one of the worlds best virgin forests.

A short drive away, we call into William Bay National Park.  Here you can swim in the protected waters of Greens Pool or take the short walk to Elephant Rocks.  Arriving in Albany we finish the day with a visit to Mount Clarence for 360* views over the City of Albany, King George Sound, Princess Royal Harbour and Dog Rock before making our way to our accommodation. Leaving Albany, we take time to visit the renown Mount Romance Sandalwood Factory; Australia’s leading producer of Sandalwood Oil.  Moving on, we discover the crisp wines of the Plantagenet Region and view the Stirling Ranges in the distance.   On our way back to Perth, we travel through sheep farming country, stop to view wildflowers (seasonal between September & November) and visit an orchard to sample locally grown produce .
