2 Day Albany & Tree Top Walk Getaway

This popular getaway to the south west of Australia visits the historic town of Albany, Mount Clarence & Torndirrup National Park as well as the ancient Southern Forests and world famous Tree Top Walk. We understand that you need to relax in clean and comfortable surrounds after an exciting day of touring and therefore this tour is accommodated in 3* Lodgings on a Twin or Triple Share basis.

DAY 1 – Perth t0 Albany

Departing Perth at 7:00am, we drive south in an air-conditioned comfort, stopping along the way for morning tea.   From here we travel deep into the Southern Forests to visit the Diamond Tree; a giant Karri tree located just south of Manjimup.  A wooden viewing platform, built in 1939, is located 52 metres above the forest floor and was used as a fire lookout every summer from 1941 to 1973 making it the oldest wooden platform fire lookout still in use today.  It is one of three lookout trees in the Southern Forests still used by the Department of Parks & Wildlife to support aerial fire surveillance.   We allow ample time for the adventurous to climb this giant lookout for stunning views of the surrounding Karri Forest.

Travelling further south through the dense forest, we arrive at the Valley of the Giants to experience the world famous Tree Top Walk.  This is a spectacular canopy boardwalk located 40 metres above the forest floor with easy access and providing magnificent views of the Karri & Tingle trees.   Back on solid ground we take a stroll through the “Ancient Empire” experiencing one of the best virgin forests in the world.

Not much further along the road we call into William Bay National Park where you can swim in the protected and pristine waters of Greens Pool (depending on the weather) or take the short walk to Elephant Rocks.  Arriving in Albany we finish the day off with a visit to Mount Clarence for 360* views over the City of Albany, King George Sound, Princess Royal Harbour and Dog Rock before making our way to our accommodation for the night. DAY 2 Albany to Perth

Following a hearty breakfast at your accommodation we begin our days activities with a visit to Torndirrup National Park where you will be amazed by the rugged coastline including the Natural Bridge & The Gap as well as the power of the Southern Ocean as it meets the shores of Australia.

Leaving Albany, we begin our return to Perth taking time to visit the renown Mount Romance Sandalwood Factory; Australia’s leading producer of Sandalwood Oil before we discover the crisp wines of the Plantagenet Region at a local winery.  Continuing north, we see the Stirling Ranges in the distance as we head through sheep farming country, stopping to view wildflowers in season (between September to November) and visiting a functional Orchard to sample locally grown produce. We arrive back in Perth at approximately 5:30pm after experiencing the beauty of South Western Australia and the Great Southern.
