Travel Forever, Welcome to Australia

Canberra

The federation of Australia occurred in 1901 but in typical Aussie “no worries” laid-back style it took until 1908 to settle on the location, then it took till 1913 to officially call this location Canberra, and then it wasn\'t until 1927 before parliament was actually relocated from Melbourne to Canberra! It is thought that the word Canberra means “meeting place” in the local indigenous dialect, this meaning suitable for both government and tourists. Canberra is quaint, contains beautiful national parks (including ski fields) near-by, and has a good local music scene. As the nation’s capital, Canberra attracts a lot of politically minded students who know how to have a good time. Don’t miss this wonderful town; rub shoulders with our politicians and be like our former Prime Minister Bob Hawke and take a day off work “ya bloody mug”.
